Algebraic D-groups, model theory and applications.

Mardi 2 décembre 2008 16:00-17:00 - Pillay Anand - University of Leeds

Résumé : I will recall the notion of an algebraic D-group over a differential field K of characteristic 0 (originally defined by Buium). I will discuss the role played by these objects in generalized differential Galois theory as well as in diophantine geometry and transcendence questions over function fields. I will also mention some analogues and problems in positive characteristic. The talk will be informed by the model-theoretic point of view, namely definability in suitable « universal domains » for differential rings and fields.
