Divisibility functions

Jeudi 14 mai 2009 14:00-15:00 - Mcreynolds Ben - Chicago

Résumé : Divisibility functions on a finitely generated, residually finite group measure how efficiently one can map a non-trivial element non-trivially to a finite group. This in turn is connected with the interplay of word and subgroup growth. In this talk, I will introduce these functions and describe some of results on their behavior. This is joint work with Khalid Bou-Rabee.
