Finite time blow up for the semilinear heat equation

Résumé : The semilinear heat equation is obtained by adding a quadratic nonlinearity to the classical heat equation. This equation contains two terms : the Laplacian, which tends to produce smooth solutions and a quadratic nonlinearity, which tends to produce blowups. There arises the question which term « dominates the other ». We will review the proof of finite time blow up for a boundary value problem, and if time permits for problems on the entire space.
