Parabolic geometries and rational curves

Résumé : Parabolic geometries are geometric structures on manifolds which look infinitesimally like homogeneous spaces G/P. For example, conformal geometries look infinitesimally like the flat conformal geometry on a hyperquadric. There are obstructions to prevent complex manifolds admitting complex parabolic geometries. Among these are some obvious Chern class obstructions, and some more subtle obstructions coming from « rolling »
along rational curves and Mori’s bend and break technique.
