We prove that the geodesic flow on a compact surface with negative curvature in the complement of a disjoint union of caps has a unique measure of maximal entropy. We will discuss the class of surfaces we are interested in, the geometry of caps, and how geodesics behave when entering and exiting a cap.  We will then outline the proof of the main result.  This is joint work with Keith Burns and Rachel McEnroe.
