The scattering operator in the mass critical or supercritical and energy subcritical case has the form identity plus a smoothing operator.  In this talk on joint ongoing work with N. Burq, N. Visciglia and N. Tzvetkov I will explain this smoothing property with different arguments in the 1d and the higher dimensional case.
